Beginning Play

To start, both players draw a random battle card. The player with the higher card goes first and chooses their character card first. Once both players have chosen their character cards, both players take 5 battle cards and 3 strategy cards. With their battle cards, the players decide on an order to place them in and do so face down in front of them in a row. The player who goes first will place them left to right and the player who goes second will place them right to left, so that the cards both go in one direction. Once placed, this order cannot be changed, unless specified on a character or strategy card. Now that the battle cards are placed, the players can use their character ability and strategy cards. Character abilities are used simply by following the instructions written on the card. Strategy cards are used by being placed face down on top of battle cards to directly affect whichever battle card it’s placed on. For example, your strategy card may add 2 to your battle card, so if you were to place it on top of a battle card with a value of 5, it would become 7. You can place however many strategy cards on each battle card. The value of the battle card will always max out at 8. For example, if you used a multiply by 2 card on a battle card with a value of 7, it would only be 8.

Fighting

Now that all of the cards are laid out, the players flip their first card, and strategy card if applicable, at the same time. Whoever has a higher value after their strategy card is applied wins that battle. The players then move onto the next card which continues until all 5 cards are flipped, signifying that the round is over. If the players both attack with the same value, the card is canceled and no one loses or wins.

End

After the round is over, the players first determine whoever won the most times within the round. Whoever loses the majority of times loses one health point. Second, all of the cards are shuffled and both players take 5 more battle cards and 3 more strategy cards. The game then repeats until one player has died. If the players somehow win the same amount of times, no one takes any damage.
